Sarah’s a key member of our team and she has long standing links to the island of Anglesey. When a local tenant dairy farmer approached her about the installation of a new power line across his land, she was eager to help.
The tenant was subject to the installation of a 1,450-metre line of cable by Scottish Power to upgrade a local substation. The route crossed straight through the landholding he managed, affecting both grassland used for the grazing dairy herd and arable land. He’d previously tried to resolve the issue, but was not happy with the service received from his local agent.
Sarah worked closely with the farmer, attending a number of meetings on-site to go through the reinstatement works and liaising with the farmer and Land Officer on behalf of Scottish Power to address a number of issues.
Negotiating an offer with the Land Office, we submitted a successful comprehensive claim on behalf of the tenant farmer. He received appropriate settlement financially and in terms of mitigation for the continued use of the land following completion of the works – and all costs were covered by the acquiring authorities.
