Assessment of Professional Competence

Last year Rozi passed and this year Demi is going through her Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) as set out by MRICS.

Last year Rozi passed and this year Demi is going through her Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) as set out by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The process examines candidates on work experience, the RICS ethics test and a written submission. A panel of three assessors will then interview the candidates for one hour to assess whether the candidates are competent to practice as an RICS member.

Demi and Rozi have written case studies with permission from our clients and will be examined on areas including Landlord & Tenant, Valuation, Property Management and Agriculture. During the interview, they will be asked to demonstrate their competence to carry out the work of a qualified surveyor by showing knowledge, application and advice of each subject area.

Both completed RICS accredited ‘sandwich’ courses at Harper Adams University.  Here they undertook a placement year in industry which is included within the two-year work experience RICS candidates must achieve in order to complete their APC. Congratulations to Rozi and good luck to Demi.
